I would like to thank Presque Isle Elks Lodge #1954 for hosting my first visitation. The First Lady and I stayed at the nearby Northeastland Hotel, we were welcomed with our very own Presque Isle Lodge shirts. Each day ER Craig MacFarline and PER Tina Dougherty led us on tours of the area and shared the history of “the County.”
Friday night we spent time at the Lodge meeting the membership and enjoyed a variety of appetizers provided by their kitchen crew while watching the magic show filled with card tricks which was quite captivating.
Saturday morning started with breakfast at Theresa’s before attending their annual “Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs” event. It was quite special to witness the enthusiasm and excitement on the faces of multi-generations despite chilly temperatures. This event provides an opportunity for families to spend quality time together while making memories that will last a lifetime. A Lifetime hunting & fishing license was offered to the winner with the biggest fish. Tables held a full array of prizes of summer fun items and new bikes. Each child patiently waited until their name was drawn to select a gift of their choice. Donna assisted with the drawing, while I helped with the reading of names. That evening Donna & I were greeted by some of the officers and members at Rodney’s where we enjoyed dinner before returning to the Lodge to attend their 80’s night with music.
Both the First Lady and I were presented with a monetary donation to the First Lady’s fundraiser “Honor Flight Maine”. Our sincere appreciation to the Presque Isle Elks Lodge for hosting our first visitation and to the membership for their hospitality, we had a great time!
Fraternally,
