Maine Elks Association Major Committees

Americanism Committee

The Americanism Committee is responsible for promoting and implementing patriotic activities such as the Elks annual Flag Day Service, Americanism Essay Contest, honoring our flag, and more.

Veterans/National Service

The Veterans/National Service Committee is responsible for promoting the Elks Veterans/National Service programs of the Grand Lodge in support of our nation’s veterans, and our active military personnel.

Maine Childrens Cancer Program

The Maine Children’s Cancer Program is the Maine Elks major charitable project. The committee promotes fundraising and awareness efforts to help childen and their families cope with cancer.

Scholarship Committee

The Maine Elks Scholarship Committee is responsible for processing and promoting of the Elks National Foundation’s Most Valuable Student Scholarship Program here in Maine.

Drug Awareness Committee

The Maine Elks Drug Awareness Program is responsible for promoting Drug Awareness in the State of Maine through the Elks National Drug Awareness program.

Hoop Shoot Committee

The Elks National Hoop Shoot is a basketball free-throw contest for boys and girls age 8-13. The Commitee promotes the program in Maine, and runs the District and State Contests. It also supports winners attending the Regional and National contests.

Soccer Shoot Committee

The Elks Soccer Shoot Program is a skills contest for children up to the age of 14. The Committee promotes the program in Maine, and conducts the District and State Soccer Shoot. It also supports the winers attending the Regional contest.

Antlers Committee

The Antlers Committee is responsible for promoting the Antlers Youth Program in the State of Maine. This Lodge program is open to youth between 12 and 20 years of age.

Activities Committee

The Activities Committee is responsible for promoting programs that support our youth and our communities. This incudes the Dictionary Project, the Medals of Valor/Service, Student Recognition Program, Community Projects Contest, the Junior Golf Program, and Scouting.

Fraternal Committee

The Fraternal Committee is responsible for promoting the All-American Lodge Contest, Elk of the Year Award, Officer of the Year Award, Citizen of the Year Award, Outstanding Member Awards, Fly the Flag Program, and Organ Donor Program.

Elks National Foundation Committee

The Elks National Foundation Committee is responsible for promoting what is affectionately known as the “Great Heart of Elkdom.” The Committee encourages donating to the ENF, and to offer ideas for Elk Lodges to raise money for the foundation. In addition, the ENF Committee also promotes the use of Community Investment Grants offered to Elk Lodges to help benefit their communities.

Maine Elks Major Project Endowment Fund Committee

The Maine Elks Major Project Endowment fund was created to provide ongoing contributions to the state’s major project; the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. The fund acts in a similar way to the Elks National Foundation, where only the income from the fund is used to support the state’s major project. The premise is simple: the bigger the fund, the more that the Maine Elks can give to MCCP showing Elks Care–Elks Share.

State Convention Committee

Maine Elks Association State Convention Committee is responsible for organizing, coordinating and conducting the association’s annual State Convention which takes place the first weekend in May of each year.  The Convention Committee staff also handles registration and publishing and printing of the convention book.
