Maine Elks Motorcycle Riders Committee

The Maine Elks Motorcycle Riders Committee is responsible for overseeing the fundraising activities of the Maine Elks Motorcycle Riders group; a group of Elk members who are also motorcycle enthusiasts who enjoy riding and raising money for charitable causes.

Each year, the Maine Elks Motorcycle Riders hold a charity ride called the “Owie Box Run.” to raise money for the State Association’s major project: The Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

The motorcycle run takes several hours, and stops at Elk Lodges and other sites throughout the State of Maine. Everyone is welcome to participate, even if you don’t own a motorcycle, and prefer to travel by car or truck.

The Owie Box Run begin in 2003, and since that time has raised well over $125,000 dollars for the children with cancer. The “Owie Box” is the name used by the Maine Children’s Cancer Program to reward their young patients with a gift of their choice out of the box at their clinic in Scarborough, Maine after undergoing a painful treatment.
