Presque Isle Elks, Lodge #1954, will again on Christmas Day at 11:30 a.m. host the
Elks Family Christmas Dinner at the Elks Lodge located at 508 Main Street in Presque
Isle.
“Anyone who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day is invited to join the Elks
family for a five-course Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day, all free of charge,” said
Tina Dougherty, Exalted Ruler of the Presque Isle Elks.
The dinner will be a sit-down meal. Guests will be served roast turkey or country baked
ham, County mashed potatoes, stuffing, and a medley of vegetables. Diners will be able
to choose from a multitude of desserts, including a variety of berry and cream pies.
The late Exalted Ruler Mary Dickinson and her husband, Dana Dickinson, originated
the Elks Family Christmas Dinner in 2005. In every year thereafter, except 2020, the
Presque Isle Elks have assembled a large group of enthusiastic volunteers to cook and
serve a sit-down Christmas Dinner for 200 or more guests.
James “Sheldon” Wright, Leland Clark, Agis Clark, Joe Romeo and other friends will
provide musical entertainment during the Christmas dinner.
Anyone who is unable to travel to the Presque Isle Elks Lodge on their own can arrange
for transportation by calling the Presque Isle Elks Lodge at 764-0985.
Exalted Ruler Tina Dougherty emphasized that, “No one in this area should be alone on
Christmas Day. The Presque Isle Elks Family Christmas Dinner was originated in order
to provide a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Christmas joyously with festive music, a
wonderful dinner and an abundance of friendly, caring people.”
