Augusta Elks members presented a check in the amount of $2,672.44 to Hazel Stevenson, a representative of the Wayne Community Church (WCC), this year’s recipient of our Mardi Gras fundraising event. Thank you to everyone that helped make this year’s event so successful, including the sixty enthusiastic revelers from WCC. The Church is always very appreciative to those supporting our work.

The Wayne Community Church is a very dedicated partner with the greater Wayne community in outreach activities and holds an important role providing confidential monies and assistance to aid those needing help especially with food and energy support.
They offer numerous free community dinners, publish a monthly community newsletter (to approximately one thousand homes), provide free space with on-site and live-streaming capabilities for events, meetings and activities including numerous days a week for the town’s Aging at Home organization. Most recent outreach has included addressing food insecurity with five local providers through our Wayne Presents! discussion forum series.
