Philip G. “Walker” Cloney, 58, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his Houlton home. He was born June 24, 1963 in Fort Fairfield, the son of Herbert E. Jr. and Madeline (Kennerson) Cloney.

He was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and went on to serve his country with the Maine Army National Guard for over twenty years with Battery B, 1st Battalion 152nd Field Artillery, being discharged to the Army Reserves as a First Sergeant. Philip later became an independent contractor with FedEx in the Houlton area until his retirement in 2011. He was a dedicated member of the Houlton Elks Lodge No. 835 where he was known as “Sarge”, and was the current Exalted Ruler. He had been awarded the Elk of the Year and the Very Prestigious Exalted Ruler of the Year of the Northern District. Philip served on the Houlton Town Council, the Houlton Fair Association where he served as treasurer, and the Houlton Volunteer Fire Department for twenty years. Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing poker with his closest friends from the Houlton Elks Lodge. He also enjoyed frequent visits to Hollywood Slots and summers at his camp on Spaulding Lake.

Philip was predeceased by his father, Herbert E. Cloney Jr. He is survived by his mother, Madeline Kelley of Boynton Beach, FL; one son, Dalton T. Cloney and his fiancé Tessa McCormick of New Limerick; one daughter, Kassidi Cloney of Florida; three brothers, Dana Cloney Sr. and his wife Susan of Thomaston, CT, Paul Cloney of Fort Fairfield, Randy and Susan Cloney of Rock Hill, SC; three sisters, Alice Philbrick of Caribou, Betty Coneen and her husband Bill of Brantford, Ontario, Sherry Cloney of Hartland. He was “Uncle Phud” to numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at a later date at the Northern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Caribou and will be announced by the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Cloney to the Houlton Elks Lodge No. 835, 86 Main Street, Houlton, Maine 04730-2121.
