Lewiston Elks News

Exalted Ruler's Message

June brought forth our first real days of summer at the Lodge.

On June 14,  we had a great Flag Day Ceremony. Once again, I get so proud of the officers, committee people and volunteers that make this Lodge great. I think that the Flag Day committee did a terrific job organizing and running this important event in the Elks. In addition to thanking my officers and the Flag Day Committee for a job well done, I would like to thank everyone who brought a dish as well. For me personally, it was an honor to raise our new flags. Now the flag that once flew over our nation’s capital now flies over our Lodge. I would also like to thank all of the veterans groups and dignitaries that came to help us celebrate our nation’s flag and a special thank you to the Vietnam Veterans of the USA that joined us to perform the Missing Man Ceremony as well.

In June we also had our Second Annual Pig Roast. There’s just something about a barbecue! And man, I love to eat! We had pork, chicken, salads,  corn, potato  along with a great band – Five Face North. The Committee did a great job pulling everything together. I would like to thank the Kitchen Queens for all their work during the event as well as all the volunteers who helped make this event such a big success.

I would also like to congratulate all our Washer Tournament winners as well and for a couple of you, I hope to see you on our membership roster soon. I would like to give an extra special thank you to Rick for cooking our pig this year. It was awesome.

I would like to thank everyone who donated and helped us with the garage sale fundraiser as well. Your support of this function has helped us meet some donation financial goals.

July brings us our first Lobster Feed so get ready and come on down. Steak is available for those who don’t eat lobster. Stay after the feed and enjoy our casino night.

Also, the lodge has started to open on Sunday afternoons as well. This is a true opportunity to come down and support your lodge, stop by and relax just for a few, watch a game or play a game on our Wii.

Summer is in full swing – don't miss it!
