The Augusta Elks sponsored a Christmas party at Togus VA for patients in ward 63 ,on 10 December.
There were hand made cards for each veteran hand crafted by the students at Gardiner Middle School coordinated by teacher Diana Morang.
Shown in the photo from left to right is: David Hassen, Dennis Gagne, Karen Curtis, Jan Rollins, David Rollins, Lefty the Music Man, Maria Hassen and Linda Walters.
The many hand made cards are being passed around for all to see.
The DAV and Elks teamed up to purchase clothing for all the Veterans on the ward. Food was provided by the Togus Voluntary Services and prepared by the Recreation staff. Each Veteran was also provided a coupon book for items in the VA Canteen.
The food was served by the member pictured above and clothing issued to each Veteran by a ward staff member.
Lefty the multi-talented musician, key board, singing and saxophone provided nonstop entertainment that had the group singing and dancing.
The Christmas party was a very uplifting affair for all present.
We look forward to the time when we can return.
A big thank you to all who made this special day possible.
