On Saturday, Nov 18, 2017, Members of the Ellsworth Elks # 2743, led by Arthur Corliss, ER, Installed a Cedar Gazebo at the Harbor Park in Ellsworth, Maine.
The Gazebo kit was purchased with donations from the Ellsworth Elks Lodge, 2 Anonymous Donors, and the City of Ellsworth. The Gazebo was installed on the edge of the Union River, at the Harbor Park, site of many public events during the year. The project was first conceived by Arthur Corliss back in June. He wanted us to do a project for the community.
Eleven members of the Lodge showed up starting at 6 AM on Saturday morning, and the project was completed at 3 PM.
I was asked to spearhead the project for the lodge. I have to say that we all learned a lot about cooperation and team work, assembling the Gazebo. I would highly recommend projects for any lodge wanting to “give back” to the community.
