Maine Girl Finishes in 3rd Place at Elks National Hoop Shoot

The Maine elks Association congratulates Faith Sjoberg, sponsored by the Presque Isle Elks Lodge #1954 for finishing third in the country at the Elks National Hoop Shoot Contest.

Faith had earned a spot as a national finalist in the Girls 12-13 division by winning her local contest, District Contest, State Contest, and Regional Contests. At the National Hoop Shoot Finals, held in Chicago, Illinois, Faith shot a total of 23 our of 25 shots against 11 other competitors. She was bested by only one shot, as the first and second place winners made 24 our of 25 shots each, which resulted in a shoot off. Sophie Philips of New York finished in first place, and Karli Taylor of Idaho finished in second.

Each year, thousands of youngsters compete in the Elks National Hoop shoot, a program of the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. Maine has had several finalists in the Elks National Hoop Shoot Competition, and two winners: Ryan Martin, sponsored by the Augusta Elks Lodge, won the boys 10-11 Division in 2001, and Henry Westphal, sponsored by the Portland Elks Lodge who won the Boys 8-9 Division in 2011.
